Ok guys, since this series of RR has dropped away from BTCC, and following a question from Rob, who would like to see the return of forced stops like we had in RR6? With Race, I can set a forced stop which means all drivers will have to change at least 2 tyres - usually set within a timeframe. I believe this will be after one full lap and at least one full lap before the end (will need to double check this).

Simple vote, yey or ney - please be quick though

This update to the Fusion Mod includes:

- Fuel Tank Fixes allowing enough fuel for longer stages
- Updates to all car's headlights to make night driving easier
- Updates to (and re-releases) of Stages 5, 6 & 7 which make up the majority of Part 2 of Fusion 3.

Thanks to Andi for his help and hard work.

Installation:

If you have been attending Fusion this season you will know of the Updates required for each round so far. This pack takes those updates and combines them along with Updated releases of Stages 5, 6 & 7, creating a singular update pack.

If you have attended Round 1-4, you will have most of these fixes, however if you are a newcomer, you'll require these fixes anyway. With that said, I would like all drivers to download and install 'Fusion3Mod_v2.0Update.7z' to ensure we are all working from the same files come Race night.

Required downloads:

- Fusion3Mod.7z (In raceControl as 'Mod1') (This is the base mod)
- Fusion3Mod_v2.0Update.7z (In raceControl as 'Mod2') (All drivers will require this update)

DISCLAIMER: PLEASE Please please read nothing more into this post than the words written. This post is not weighted, it is neuteral of intention and posted only as something new in 9 days within this section for guests, potential guests, registered drivers, race directors, mod makers and search engines to read, review and hopefully positively reply to.

I've gotten over the past few days a lot of questions about this series. Where we are with downloads? What do I require to race? Whats happening? Was the series Canciled? Are we doing any racing this sunday? Shall we just play Battlefield 3 instead? - Ok so that last one was mine . Now I know developments have happened in the Modding thread regarding the 2011 BTCC Mod, but firstly, not everybody will be following the modding/testing thread, and guests or potential guests wont see that section anyway, all they'll see is a section on the public forum, with a thread titled 'Series Canciled' dated 9th February 2012 and a last post of the 10th of February, then over the right of the page, they'll see the dbpRR Season 7 Round: 1 Information, flashing up with 'Today @ 19:30..

For those who don't know, a lot has happened behind the scenes since the 'Series Canciled' message went live. A lot of it is not important to know, but what's happened is the mod has been put under further testing, and a point was reached where those testing could reproduce cirtain situations where crashes and abnormalities occured. A further patch has been posted in the modding thread today, but as I say, not everyone will have followed that process, so some of the questions posted above still stand.

So my question is this: Is it still the plan to meet tonight, as raceControl indicates, are we starting the season tonight or is tonight going to be a test for the newest mod update, (If so, guidance will be needed for those without the releases posted in the modding thread), or are we to go with the plan of using Stock Content this evening for a Race Shakedown, and make sure that that itself still works as it should for all who are attending?

For those who don't know, Skinny is away till this evening, so it's my hope that when he reads this post upon his return, he'll post an update for everyone as to what's happening this evening.

Thanks

It is now, (and has been) possible for a while to link to files for download directly from the dedicated server. However, this was setup originaly for the download of files from / through raceControl. But it has lately been the case that links to files have appeared unprotected within our forums. While this is fine for us ourselves, and in private team sections, I'd like to ask that if you are intended on posting a link to a file outside of the safety of raceControl, that you either code your links by not posting the url, but instead posting a word such as 'Link' or 'Linky' or 'Download here' or whatever, and make that word your url, rather than simply posting the URL for all to see and access.

You could go a step further and use a 3rd party service such as bit.ly to give you a shortened url which you can then freely post.

Please bare in mind this facility is subject to change upon the needs of the Dedicated server. We don't have a huge hard drive or unlimited space on there, so please use it wisely. The downing of Megaupload has had a huge effect upon our server's use as a download service.

Following Round 1 and the issues we had with the non-rally content, as Race Director I hosted a poll to see what the general feeling was between competitors.. All Four of us who could make Round 1. Only two actual votes were cast in the end, which made the poll equal although others did post thier opinions, or intentions to post opinions at least. From this I have decided to make some operational changes to Fusion Season 3.

Firstly, I've decided at this point to remove the Gymkhana content from the series. At the moment, it has some issues when run online, and as this is when it's required during Fusion 3, at the moment, it's not working. I am sure a fix will be found, and when it is, I will revisit this issue, but until then, each Fusion meeting will contain an extended practice period, followed by two runs up the stage running that evening. After the stage running ends, drivers will have the option to leave (obviously) or go on to practice the following stage (where available).

Secondly, I've re-arranged the order in which we will visit the stages. Several stages were identified as having issues. Hopefully these are issues which can be sorted out in some way, but that is another point for later on. A package has been uploaded which has been tested extensively online, and had additional changes made to some of it's files, so a re-download of these stages is required (see the Round 2 thread downloads section).

[Round 2] Stage 2 = SS124
[Round 3] Stage 3 = Initial D Akina Downhill
[Round 4] Stage 4 = Transfagarasan Hillclimb

The changes to these stages include AIW tweeks and the setting of session times inside the track files, this has been tested online and has been proved working, so I don't forsee any additional issues that would stop these tracks being run as they are. Please do read the Round 2 thread however, as you will all require at least the download of the Tracks.

Thirdly, I have decided to for the time being keep Fusion Season 3 in rFactor. The poll discussed moving across to DiRT 3 which is natively able to handle Point to Point Rally Stages as well as Gymkhana and other fun and games. The three stages posted above, and the first stage we've already run in rFactor will keep Fusion Season 3 in rFactor for the next three weeks at least. If more tracks can be saved, that period may extend. If not, we will move to DiRT 3. This is something you should expect to change and when it does, it will be me who will keep you as drivers informed.

Fourthly, The problem stages have been identified, and over the course of the next three weeks, while the stages identified above are ran, I hope to work with people cleverer than I to try to fix or find a solution to running these stages. This is work in progress, and if these stages become 'runnable' I as Race Director will let you know of schedule changes and of course provide track downloads via raceControl.

Fifthly, the Special Stages will eventually be run, probably together during the course of an evening sometime in the future. It is quite likely that this will happen in DiRT 3. The Season Break days are still up for grabs, but won't now have anything to do with me or my ideas, these are totally open to anyone who wants them. If there are no takers, then we can use the time to complete the Special Stages as previously mentioned.

Sixthly and Finally for now, Fusion Season 3 will finish in DiRT 3. We will try our best to keep the Rallying in rFactor, but either way, the season will finish in DiRT 3, please be prepared for this eventuality.
